Hi Public,

It is very normal for kids to cry when place in new environment, esp so when your kid is just 3 years old. How about trying to send him to school yourself, so that you can deliver you boy straight to the teacher's arm. At least there is someone to calm him down after you left.

Hi Lsharon70,

Yap, there was another new boy that joins the class with my girl. Perhaps next time I can find out fr u what was being taught in class, cos my gal seldom tell me what she does in school. She will only says colour and play. I suspect that was really what happen in the old school, and she simply lost the interest to tell me more, cos there was nothing more than colour n play oops

Hi Rio,

Maybe I have to give him some time to adapt, I'm a workin mum so can't send him there to support him.

May I know what they learn for Pre-nursery as I check with the admin and what I know is only play and socialise? Afraid he didn't learn much in school.

i think play and socialise is also a form of learning. Children learn to make friends and enjoy themselves!

Hi Public,

I agree with brightstar...play is a very important part of a child's development. My gal learn best and fastest thru play. Make her sit down and she cant even read a page of storybook. But when I make reading thru games, she can finish one whole book in no time:)

besides, if your child come back and tell u he does alot of colouring, it's a good thing, cos that's where they practice their hand muscle. It will help them to write better in future. My gal's old school has colouring EVERYDAY. At first I thought why like that, do nothing. But later I realised the importance. Now my girl can write simple sentances (if she wants too stick tongue)

But if u want to know the breakdown of your child's time spend in school, and if I remember correctly: pre-nursery is 90% play and 10% academic. Nursery is 70% play and 30% academic. K1 is 50% play and 50% academic. Cant remember the figures for K2, maybe 20%play and 80% academic ba.

Hopes that help:)
