I think reading can really help in the chinese, just like English. Read more to your child, let him recognise the chinese character. For writing, it will take longer time. As for my son, till now, P2, he still can't write nicely. All the words are of different sizes, some big some small, look very untidy. But at least I know what he is writing, hee...hee.....  Grin

I was as anxious as you were this time last year.  Be prepared for very long q when you buy the books and uniform & shoes during day of orientation and on the first few days of school.  What I did was to buy the uniform and shoes and socks from the book-shop when i went to register (kinda KS, but saved time).  As for books, no choice but have to wait for the days that the books go on sale in school.  I personally prefer to buy books from school as you get everything in one set, no need to worry if you bought the right or wrong books, and includes the required exercise books as well, which is not available at Popular.  If you don't mind, I can pass you the P1 textbooks (I got it 2nd hand) once my son is done with P1 this year.  As for Chinese, there is an enrichment chinese class conducted by external teachers but held at Mee Toh.  I enrolled my son, just to get him more interested in the language.  He is not really excited about the classes but I reckon attending the classes may help, better than nothing.  First half of year is "han-yu-ping-ying".  Can email me at tsh0103@singnet.com.sg  (Adeline)
